2021 Judge's Comments

JUDGE #1 - Overall comment: I enjoyed the cocktail airings

Here's my ranking, lowest to highest:

7. Hope Faith Love: A bit dull. Nothing going on around the tree. The room appears stark. Curious to know what the cocktail consists of.

6. King Jimmy: See comments from Hope Faith Love. Disappointed that there's no cocktail pairing.

5. Strawberry shortcake: Too many pictures were provided. The tree looks beautiful in the pic with the lights dimmed. Unfortunately, the pics in the daytime are underwhelming. The tree appears bland. And what's the thing with the fish tail on the wall?!

4. Pink Dazzler -The tree looks very intriguing, but I would like to see better pictures. There's no picture of the complete tree. If there was a fuller picture, it might have finished higher, but I guess it could have placed lower

3. Purple Rain/When Doves Cry. Some may find this tree gaudy, but I find that it captures the essence of Prince. Enjoyed the guitar and doves. The reason the tree didn't rank higher is, because, to my knowledge, Prince has nothing to do with Christmas.

2. Chanel: Very glamorous. The black drapes tie in very nicely. The reason this tree didn't get my top vote is because it's for the wrong holiday. They're called Christmas trees not New Years Eve tree trees. Now, don't argue that there's a Merry Christmas sign in the tree. If with the sign it looks like the tree belongs at a New Years Eve party.

And #1: Sweet and Twisted: Very sophisticated. Especially like the way the fireplace mantle matches the tree. A word of caution. This tree owner almost blew it with providing too many pictures. A couple are not very flattering of the tree. In one picture there appears to be a potato chip bag on the table and you can see tv cords.

1. Strawberry Shortcake - A tree with perfect balance! Looks like it should be in a mall or downtown Chicago. The red ribbon seals the deal. Traditional but stunning.

2. Purple Rain - Creativity at its best. Loved the theme. Doves a great touch (When Doves Cry). Purple lighting seals the deal.

3. King Jimmy - simple but beautiful.

1ST PLACE TIE BETWEEN: While both trees were less than flattering I was equally impressed so I had to tie 1st place choice.

1. King Jimmy - great choice of holiday drinks; simple and still gets you messed up! It was nice to see some testosterone jump in this competition! Not sure what happened to the bottom right side of the floor. Maybe you could have move one empty lighted basket to the right side and one on the left to even things out. It looks like someone snuck in and stole the empty baskets from the other side or you had too many Hennies and forgot to do the other side. I would love to know what happened here. I would have loved to see more WOW from this tree but given it's a male entry, I must say I am impressed with your skills. Cant wait to see what you do next year! A for the effort this year.

1. Faith Love Hope - Well what can I say here..............not much. This tree was a "tall" entry to judge. I think next year if you get closer and create some more dimension no one will even know it's a 1 foot tall tree. I had to take a look 7 times before I noticed it was a mini tree. I am sure after a few LoveBugs you didn't even notice you ordered the 1-foot tree off Amazon. Can't wait to try a LoveBug! On the brighter side, I do however love the theme after this crazy never-ending chaotic year we had, it brings inspiration to think of faith love and hope. What a great theme to start 2021! #1 theme in my holiday book! Great job decorating considering you only had 1 foot to work with!

2. Purple Rain - I must say what a great decorative play on theme with the doves and guitar. All you needed was a picture of prince somewhere. I didnt get the lace. Was that symbolic of his girlfriend "Vanity"? Love the purple lights. The word JOY just added an extra touch of motivation to end the year strong. Overall good colors and theme. Clever way of bringing in all the surrounding lights too. You should pursue a career in decorating.

3. Chanel Tree - I am a fan of all things gold silver and black. I like the elegant theme and how the decorations fill the tree. I think the dog adds an extra special Los Angeles touch. I want one now. He almost doesn't look real! Beautifully wrapped presents! Looks like a magazine holiday. Love the 24 k drinks. Now all I would need is Bruno Mars to appear! Seems like that type of celebration here. The tree could use a little more girth but overall great presentation; classy and lifestylish. I'm ready to party next to this tree til 5 AM whenever we can congregate again! Wonder whats in those expensive-looking gift boxes!

I’m really proud that I decided to decorate. I use to love decorating for Christmas but haven’t decorated in YEARS Anyhow this year I had a different state of mind & said I’m going to do it for myself so I did.

2. Purple Rain - love the theme & creativity

3.Sweet & twisted - love the traditional red & white Christmas colors & how it was put together.
